Location
Filsdorf is an idyllic village in the southeastern municipality of Dalheim. The village is best known for its Roman ancestry. The Gallo-Roman settlement \"Vicus Ricciacus\" near present-day Dalheim was located on the important communication route between the Mediterranean and the Rhine, and included several temples and thermal baths. The highlight of the archaeological achievements was the discovery in 1985 of a theater with a capacity of 3,500 to 4,000 spectators. Today, the Roman character of the site is recalled by an obelisk surmounted by a Roman eagle on the plateau overlooking the village. The \"Ricciacus Frënn\" association also organizes guided tours of the Gallo-Roman theater and vicus on summer weekends.
Dalheim is home to a number of restaurants and small shops. The Kräizbierg Foundation's \"La Cerisaie\" home is located at the entrance to the village, close to the school grounds, where people with physical disabilities can find supervised accommodation.
The \"Charly Gaul\" cycle path (PC11) runs for 14 km from Fentange to Ellange, passing through Roeser, Weiler-la-Tour and Filsdorf.
Filsdorf is in the immediate vicinity of several large towns, including Frisange and Remich, as well as the French and German borders. The Esplanade in Remich invites you to stroll around the market every third Monday and to take part in the monthly flea market.
