Description

The first historical mention of this castle dates back to 1156. After losing its fortress-like attributes and towers in 1453, the Château d'Ell took on the architecture we now know: that of an outstandingly charming dwelling with ±560m² of living space and ±1850m² of total surface area, surrounded by a sumptuous ±2.07ha park on the banks of the Attert river.
At first glance, the enclosure seems rather discreet, but once you've passed through the gates, it's full of surprises. We discover a pretty courtyard with a mansion at its center, probably built inside the walls of the former dungeon. The entrance to this house bears a crest dating back to 1635, and opens onto beautiful reception rooms: hall, two lounges, one with a fireplace, and a magnificent vaulted room (historic kitchen with its hearth and operational bread oven). The current kitchen is at the rear and opens onto the terrace and park, also accessible from the large living room.

There are currently 5 bedrooms and two shower rooms in the main house, including 3 large ones on the second floor. The second floor and unfinished attic space offer excellent potential for further expansion. The annex to the left of the main house is accessible from the house itself and features technical rooms, a large office space and 2 independent one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.
This former medieval castle also features large garages (over 15 vehicles) and workshops, as well as a party room with fireplace, kitchen, sanitary facilities, wine cellar, etc. The south-facing terrace is part of a beautiful fenced park with access to the river. The property is protected, and has recently been surveyed by an architect and analyzed by an old buildings historian from the University of Trier. Renovation and/or conversion work may be eligible for valuable subsidies.

Located at the entrance to the village of Ell, this beautiful property is rather discreet, reminiscent of a farmhouse and set slightly back from the road (which is not a main road and is no longer heard once inside the courtyard). The enclosure, which is no longer totally enclosed to the rear, overlooks a beautiful park bordered to the south by the course of the Attert, a small river which flows into the Alzette at Mersch.

Ell is a very pleasant village, with an elementary school with “pre-school”, a beautiful village hall and - a curiosity unique to the Grand Duchy - a village bistro whose owner is employed by the commune. All amenities are just 2 km away, in Redange, capital of the canton of the same name.
