Roman fortifications bear witness to the very close link between the ancient era and today’s Luxembourg.

And Mersch also witnessed the Second World War and the German invasion of Luxembourg in 1940.

Known for its legendary neutrality, the Grand Duchy experienced one of the worst periods in its history with the violation of the front lines by the German army during a war that would mark the 21st century.
